reduction of offending behaviour for participants

Prävention

Many mentees were recorded as involved in offending and anti-social behaviour at the start of mentoring, with almost a third in the highest bracket (scores of 8-10) with only 15 percent at the other end of the scale (scores of 1-3). Mentees indicated an average rate of involvement in offending and anti-social behaviour of 6.71 on the 10-point scale. Just under 18 percent showed no change over the period of mentoring but by the end of mentoring, the percentage that were showing high levels of involvement had dropped to ten percent and the percentage on scores of 1-3 had increased to 54 percent. According to co-ordinators and mentors, the reduction in offending and anti-social behaviour averaged 28 percent. The attribution to mentoring was quite high, at 49 percent. Once again, mentees reported substantially higher levels of improvement (48 percent reduction in offending and anti-social behaviour) and a higher attribution to mentoring (63 percent).
