improved self-confidence and self-esteem for parent mentees

persönliche Entwicklung / Erwerb von sozialen und personalen Kompetenzen

In the survey, parents were asked to rate their self-confidence and self-esteem separately. Ratings were consistent across the two questions for most individuals and the overall averages were similar. The average starting scores were relatively low at 3.35 and 3.47 respectively. The equivalent percentages at the end of mentoring were significantly higher, with no parents rating themselves less than 5 on either variable and almost half giving themselves scores of 8 or higher. The respective improvements were 42 percent and 39 percent and attributions to mentoring were high (3.38 and 3.40, equivalent to 79 percent and 80 percent respectively). There was consistent endorsement of the survey findings in the interviews.
